La piccola anatra

È primavera. Il sole splende. Lina e il suo fratellino Noah sono al parco giochi. Il parco giochi è nel parco, vicino a uno stagno.

It is spring. The sun is shining. Lina and her little brother Noah are at the playground. The playground is in the park, next to a pond.

Lina è sull’altalena. Noah è nella sabbia. Fa un castello. Poi grida: «Lina! Vieni presto! C’è un uccello!»

Lina is on the swing. Noah is in the sand. He is building a castle. Then he shouts, “Lina! Come quickly! There’s a bird!”

Lina arriva. Nella sabbia c’è un piccolo uccello. È giallo e marrone e molto morbido. Ha un becco piatto.

Lina comes. A little bird is sitting in the sand. It is yellow and brown and very soft. It has a flat beak.

«Non è un uccello», dice Lina. «È un’anatra. Un piccolo anatroccolo!»

“That’s not just a bird,” says Lina. “It’s a duck. A baby duck!”

La piccola anatra dice: «Pio! Pio!»

The little duck says, “Peep! Peep!”

«Dov’è la mamma?», chiede Noah. Lina guarda a sinistra. Guarda a destra. Nessuna mamma. Ci sono solo bambini, mamme, papà e un cane.

“Where is its mummy?” asks Noah. Lina looks to the left. She looks to the right. No mummy. Only children, mothers, fathers and a dog.

Il cane vede l’anatra. Abbaia. «Bau! Bau!» L’anatra fa un verso forte. Corre verso Noah e ora siede sulla sua scarpa.

The dog sees the duck. He barks. “Woof! Woof!” The duck peeps loudly. It runs to Noah and now it is sitting on his shoe.

«Ha paura», dice Lina. «Dobbiamo trovare la mamma.»

“It’s scared,” says Lina. “We have to find its mummy.”

«La mamma è sicuramente allo stagno», dice Noah. «Le anatre vivono allo stagno.»

“Its mummy is sure to be at the pond,” says Noah. “Ducks live at the pond.”

Lina annuisce. «Bene. Andiamo allo stagno.»

Lina nods. “Good. Let’s go to the pond.”
