미미는 어디 있어요?

레나는 일곱 살이다. 레나는 고양이가 있다. 고양이 이름은 미미다. 미미는 작고 회색이다. 발은 하얗다.

Lena is seven years old. She has a cat. The cat is called Mimi. Mimi is small and grey. She has white paws.

매일 아침 미미가 레나 방에 온다. 미미는 침대 위로 뛰어오른다. 그리고 말한다. “야옹!” 그러면 레나가 일어난다.

Every morning Mimi comes into Lena’s room. She jumps onto the bed and says, “Miaow!” Then Lena gets up.

하지만 오늘은 다 다르다. 오늘은 미미가 안 온다. 레나는 혼자 일어난다. 침대가 비어 있다. ‘야옹’이 없다. 아무것도 없다.

But today everything is different. Today Mimi doesn’t come. Lena wakes up alone. The bed is empty. No “miaow”. Nothing.

“미미야?” 레나가 부른다. “미미야, 어디 있어?”

“Mimi?” calls Lena. “Mimi, where are you?”

레나는 부엌을 찾는다. 엄마가 커피를 마신다. “엄마, 미미 어디 있어요?” “모르겠어.” 엄마가 말한다. “혹시 정원에 있어?”

Lena looks in the kitchen. Mum is drinking coffee. “Mum, where is Mimi?” “I don’t know,” says Mum. “Maybe in the garden?”

레나는 정원으로 간다. 풀이 젖어 있다. 나무 위에 새가 한 마리 앉아 있다. 하지만 미미는 없다.

Lena goes into the garden. The grass is wet. A bird is sitting in the tree. But Mimi isn’t there.

“미미야! 미미야!” 레나가 크게 부른다. 새가 날아간다. 하지만 고양이는 안 온다.

“Mimi! Mimi!” Lena calls loudly. The bird flies away. But no cat comes.

레나는 집으로 돌아간다. 레나는 소파 밑을 찾는다. 거기에 공이 있다. 양말도 있다. 오래된 과자도 있다. 하지만 고양이는 없다.

Lena goes back into the house. She looks under the sofa. There is a ball. There is a sock. There is an old biscuit. But there is no cat.

레나는 옷장 뒤를 찾는다. 거기에 먼지가 있다. 먼지가 아주 많다. 레나는 재채기를 한다. “에취!” 하지만 고양이는 없다.

She looks behind the wardrobe. There is dust. Lots of dust. Lena has to sneeze. “Atchoo!” But there is no cat.

아빠가 거실에 온다. “레나야, 거기 밑에서 뭐 해?” “미미를 찾아요. 미미가 없어졌어요!”

Dad comes into the living room. “Lena, what are you doing down there?” “I’m looking for Mimi. Mimi is gone!”

아빠도 찾는다. 아빠는 욕실을 찾는다. 차고도 찾는다. 차 안까지 찾는다. 미미는 없다.

Dad looks too. He looks in the bathroom. He looks in the garage. He even looks in the car. No Mimi.
