Camera dodici

Sono le nove di mattina. L’uomo con le tre borse esce.

It is nine o’clock in the morning. The man with three bags goes out.

La signora Berg dà una chiave a Nina.

Mrs Berg gives Nina a key.

«Pulisci il bagno nella camera dodici», dice.

“Clean the bathroom in room twelve,” she says.

Nina sale gli ottanta gradini. Chiude la porta piano.

Nina goes up the eighty stairs. She closes the door quietly.

La camera è molto silenziosa.

The room is very quiet.

Prende la foto dalla borsa.

She takes the photo out of her bag.

La nonna è vecchia nella foto, e sorride.

Grandma is old in it, and she is smiling.

Dietro la sua testa c’è una finestra.

Behind her head there is a window.

Nina va alla finestra.

Nina goes to the window.

C’è un piccolo numero vecchio sopra. Un 1 e un 2.

There is a small old number on it. A 1 and a 2.

È la stessa finestra. Qui c’è la stessa luce.

It is the same window. Here is the same light.

Mette le scarpe sullo stesso pavimento.

She puts her shoes on the same floor.

Ora è in piedi dove sta la nonna.

Now she is standing where Grandma stands.

Qui non c’è nessuna porta blu. Lo vede. La cerca.

There is no blue door here. She can see that. She looks for it.
