Kamer twaalf

Het is negen uur in de ochtend. De man met drie tassen gaat naar buiten.

It is nine o’clock in the morning. The man with three bags goes out.

Mevrouw Berg geeft Nina een sleutel.

Mrs Berg gives Nina a key.

“Maak de badkamer in kamer twaalf schoon,” zegt ze.

“Clean the bathroom in room twelve,” she says.

Nina gaat de tachtig treden op. Ze doet de deur zachtjes dicht.

Nina goes up the eighty stairs. She closes the door quietly.

De kamer is heel stil.

The room is very quiet.

Ze neemt de foto uit haar tas.

She takes the photo out of her bag.

Oma is oud op de foto, en ze glimlacht.

Grandma is old in it, and she is smiling.

Achter haar hoofd is een raam.

Behind her head there is a window.

Nina gaat naar het raam.

Nina goes to the window.

Er staat een klein oud nummer op. Een 1 en een 2.

There is a small old number on it. A 1 and a 2.

Het is hetzelfde raam. Hier is hetzelfde licht.

It is the same window. Here is the same light.

Haar schoenen staan op dezelfde vloer.

She puts her shoes on the same floor.

Nu staat ze waar oma staat.

Now she is standing where Grandma stands.

Er is hier geen blauwe deur. Dat ziet ze. Ze zoekt hem.

There is no blue door here. She can see that. She looks for it.
