Quarto Doze

São nove horas da manhã. O homem com as três sacolas sai.

It is nine o’clock in the morning. The man with three bags goes out.

A Sra. Berg dá uma chave para Nina.

Mrs Berg gives Nina a key.

“Limpe o banheiro do quarto doze,” ela diz.

“Clean the bathroom in room twelve,” she says.

Nina sobe os oitenta degraus. Ela fecha a porta sem barulho.

Nina goes up the eighty stairs. She closes the door quietly.

O quarto está muito quieto.

The room is very quiet.

Ela pega a foto da sacola dela.

She takes the photo out of her bag.

A vó é velha nela, e ela está sorrindo.

Grandma is old in it, and she is smiling.

Atrás da cabeça dela tem uma janela.

Behind her head there is a window.

Nina vai até a janela.

Nina goes to the window.

Tem um número pequeno e velho nela. Um 1 e um 2.

There is a small old number on it. A 1 and a 2.

É a mesma janela. Aqui é a mesma luz.

It is the same window. Here is the same light.

Ela coloca os sapatos dela no mesmo chão.

She puts her shoes on the same floor.

Agora ela está onde a vó fica.

Now she is standing where Grandma stands.

Não tem porta azul aqui. Ela pode ver isso. Ela a procura.

There is no blue door here. She can see that. She looks for it.
