Hoppel uyuyamıyor

Ormanda gece oluyor. Ay yuvarlak ve parlak. Kuşlar uyuyor. Fareler uyuyor. Tilkiler uyuyor.

It is night in the forest. The moon is round and bright. The birds are asleep. The mice are asleep. The foxes are asleep.

Tavşanlar da uyuyor. Anne tavşan uyuyor. Baba tavşan uyuyor. Kardeşler uyuyor. Sadece küçük Hoppel uyumuyor.

The rabbits are asleep too. Mummy Rabbit is asleep. Daddy Rabbit is asleep. The brothers and sisters are asleep. Only little Hoppel isn’t asleep.

Hoppel yatakta yatıyor. Gözlerini kapatıyor. Gözlerini açıyor. Gözlerini tekrar kapatıyor.

Hoppel lies in bed. He closes his eyes. He opens his eyes. He closes his eyes again.

O sırada bir şey duyuyor. “Krrr. Krrr.”

Then he hears something. “Grrr. Grrr.”

Hoppel gözlerini açıyor. “Bu ne?”

Hoppel opens his eyes. “What’s that?”

“Krrr. Krrr.”

“Grrr. Grrr.”

Hoppel biraz gergin. Ayağa kalkıyor ve sessizce evden çıkıyor. Tavşanların evi bir ağacın altında.

Hoppel is a little nervous. He gets up and goes quietly out of the house. The rabbits’ house is under a tree.

Ağacın tepesinde baykuş oturuyor. Büyük sarı gözleri var. Baykuşlar gece uyumuyor.

Up in the tree sits the owl. She has big yellow eyes. Owls don’t sleep at night.

“Baykuş, baykuş! Sen mi ‘Krrr, krrr’ yapıyorsun?”

“Owl, Owl! Are you going ‘grrr, grrr’?”

“Hayır” diyor baykuş. “Ben ‘Uhu, uhu’ yapıyorum. ‘Krrr’ değil.”

“No,” says the owl. “I go ‘hoo-hoo’. Not ‘grrr’.”

“Krrr. Krrr.”

“Grrr. Grrr.”

“Orada! Bunu duyuyor musun?” diye soruyor Hoppel. Baykuş hiçbir şey duymuyor. “Kurbağaya sor” diyor. “Kurbağa göletin yanında.”

“There! Can you hear that?” asks Hoppel. The owl hears nothing. “Ask the frog,” she says. “The frog is at the pond.”
