Piotr lebt in Warschau. Er ist fünfundvierzig Jahre alt. Er arbeitet in einem großen Büro in der Stadt.

Piotr lives in Warsaw. He is forty-five. He works in a big office in the city.

Jeden Morgen fährt er mit dem Auto zur Arbeit. Er nimmt den Aufzug in den achten Stock. Er sitzt den ganzen Tag an seinem Schreibtisch.

Every morning, he drives to work. He takes the lift to the eighth floor. He sits at his desk all day.

Am Abend fährt er nach Hause. Er sitzt auf dem Sofa und sieht fern.

In the evening, he drives home. He sits on the sofa and watches TV.

Heute ist Piotr nicht bei der Arbeit. Er ist beim Arzt.

Today, Piotr is not at work. He is at the doctor’s.

Die Ärztin ist eine junge Frau mit kurzen Haaren. Sie sieht lange auf ihren Computer.

The doctor is a young woman with short hair. She looks at her computer for a long time.

„Herr Piotr, wie viel gehen Sie zu Fuß?“, fragt sie.

“Mr Piotr, how much do you walk?” she asks.

„Zu Fuß gehen? Ich gehe von meinem Auto zu meinem Schreibtisch.“

“Walk? I walk from my car to my desk.”

„Und am Wochenende?“

“And at the weekend?”

„Am Wochenende gehe ich von meinem Sofa in meine Küche.“

“At the weekend, I walk from my sofa to my kitchen.”

Die Ärztin lacht nicht. „Ihr Herz ist nicht glücklich, Herr Piotr. Ihr Herz braucht Spaziergänge.“

The doctor does not laugh. “Your heart is not happy, Mr Piotr. Your heart needs you to walk.”

„Wie viel?“

“How much?”

„Zehntausend Schritte. Jeden Tag.“

“Ten thousand steps. Every day.”

Piotr sieht sie an. „Zehntausend? Jeden Tag? Das ist ein Witz.“

Piotr looks at her. “Ten thousand? Every day? That is a joke.”
