Piotr lives in Warsaw. He is forty-five. He works in a big office in the city.
Toda manhã, ele vai de carro para o trabalho. Ele pega o elevador para o oitavo andar. Ele senta na mesa dele o dia todo.
Every morning, he drives to work. He takes the lift to the eighth floor. He sits at his desk all day.
À noite, ele vai de carro para casa. Ele senta no sofá e assiste TV.
In the evening, he drives home. He sits on the sofa and watches TV.
Hoje, Piotr não está no trabalho. Ele está no médico.
Today, Piotr is not at work. He is at the doctor’s.
A médica é uma mulher jovem com cabelo curto. Ela olha para o computador dela por muito tempo.
The doctor is a young woman with short hair. She looks at her computer for a long time.
“Senhor Piotr, quanto o senhor caminha?”, ela pergunta.
“Mr Piotr, how much do you walk?” she asks.
“Caminhar? Eu caminho do meu carro até a minha mesa.”
“Walk? I walk from my car to my desk.”
“E no fim de semana?”
“And at the weekend?”
“No fim de semana, eu caminho do meu sofá até a minha cozinha.”
“At the weekend, I walk from my sofa to my kitchen.”
A médica não ri. “O coração do senhor não está bem, senhor Piotr. O seu coração precisa que o senhor caminhe.”
The doctor does not laugh. “Your heart is not happy, Mr Piotr. Your heart needs you to walk.”
“Quanto?”
“How much?”
“Dez mil passos. Todo dia.”
“Ten thousand steps. Every day.”
Piotr olha para ela. “Dez mil? Todo dia? Isso é uma piada.”
Piotr looks at her. “Ten thousand? Every day? That is a joke.”
