Piotr Varşova’da yaşıyor. O kırk beş yaşında. Şehirde büyük bir ofiste çalışıyor.
Piotr lives in Warsaw. He is forty-five. He works in a big office in the city.
Her sabah işe arabayla gidiyor. Asansörle sekizinci kata çıkıyor. Bütün gün masasında oturuyor.
Every morning, he drives to work. He takes the lift to the eighth floor. He sits at his desk all day.
Akşam arabayla eve dönüyor. Koltukta oturuyor ve televizyon izliyor.
In the evening, he drives home. He sits on the sofa and watches TV.
Bugün Piotr işte değil. O doktorda.
Today, Piotr is not at work. He is at the doctor’s.
Doktor kısa saçlı genç bir kadın. Bilgisayarına uzun süre bakıyor.
The doctor is a young woman with short hair. She looks at her computer for a long time.
“Bay Piotr, ne kadar yürüyorsunuz?” diye soruyor.
“Mr Piotr, how much do you walk?” she asks.
“Yürümek mi? Arabamdan masama kadar yürüyorum.”
“Walk? I walk from my car to my desk.”
“Peki hafta sonu?”
“And at the weekend?”
“Hafta sonu koltuğumdan mutfağıma kadar yürüyorum.”
“At the weekend, I walk from my sofa to my kitchen.”
Doktor gülmüyor. “Kalbiniz mutlu değil, Bay Piotr. Kalbiniz yürümenizi istiyor.”
The doctor does not laugh. “Your heart is not happy, Mr Piotr. Your heart needs you to walk.”
“Ne kadar?”
“How much?”
“On bin adım. Her gün.”
“Ten thousand steps. Every day.”
Piotr ona bakıyor. “On bin mi? Her gün mü? Bu bir şaka.”
Piotr looks at her. “Ten thousand? Every day? That is a joke.”
