Piotr lives in Warsaw. He is forty-five. He works in a big office in the city.
Ogni mattina va al lavoro in macchina. Prende l’ascensore fino all’ottavo piano. Sta seduto alla scrivania tutto il giorno.
Every morning, he drives to work. He takes the lift to the eighth floor. He sits at his desk all day.
La sera torna a casa in macchina. Si siede sul divano e guarda la TV.
In the evening, he drives home. He sits on the sofa and watches TV.
Oggi Piotr non è al lavoro. È dal medico.
Today, Piotr is not at work. He is at the doctor’s.
La dottoressa è una giovane donna con i capelli corti. Guarda il computer a lungo.
The doctor is a young woman with short hair. She looks at her computer for a long time.
«Signor Piotr, quanto cammina?», chiede.
“Mr Piotr, how much do you walk?” she asks.
«Camminare? Cammino dalla macchina alla scrivania.»
“Walk? I walk from my car to my desk.”
«E nel fine settimana?»
“And at the weekend?”
«Nel fine settimana cammino dal divano alla cucina.»
“At the weekend, I walk from my sofa to my kitchen.”
La dottoressa non ride. «Il Suo cuore non è contento, signor Piotr. Il Suo cuore ha bisogno che Lei cammini.»
The doctor does not laugh. “Your heart is not happy, Mr Piotr. Your heart needs you to walk.”
«Quanto?»
“How much?”
«Diecimila passi. Ogni giorno.»
“Ten thousand steps. Every day.”
Piotr la guarda. «Diecimila? Ogni giorno? È uno scherzo.»
Piotr looks at her. “Ten thousand? Every day? That is a joke.”
