Ο Πιοτρ μένει στη Βαρσοβία. Είναι σαράντα πέντε χρονών. Δουλεύει σε ένα μεγάλο γραφείο στην πόλη.
Piotr lives in Warsaw. He is forty-five. He works in a big office in the city.
Κάθε πρωί, πηγαίνει στη δουλειά με το αυτοκίνητο. Παίρνει το ασανσέρ για τον όγδοο όροφο. Κάθεται στο γραφείο του όλη μέρα.
Every morning, he drives to work. He takes the lift to the eighth floor. He sits at his desk all day.
Το βράδυ, γυρίζει σπίτι με το αυτοκίνητο. Κάθεται στον καναπέ και βλέπει τηλεόραση.
In the evening, he drives home. He sits on the sofa and watches TV.
Σήμερα, ο Πιοτρ δεν είναι στη δουλειά. Είναι στη γιατρό.
Today, Piotr is not at work. He is at the doctor’s.
Η γιατρός είναι μια νέα γυναίκα με κοντά μαλλιά. Κοιτάζει τον υπολογιστή της για πολλή ώρα.
The doctor is a young woman with short hair. She looks at her computer for a long time.
«Κύριε Πιοτρ, πόσο περπατάτε;» ρωτάει.
“Mr Piotr, how much do you walk?” she asks.
«Περπάτημα; Περπατάω από το αυτοκίνητό μου μέχρι το γραφείο μου.»
“Walk? I walk from my car to my desk.”
«Και το σαββατοκύριακο;»
“And at the weekend?”
«Το σαββατοκύριακο, περπατάω από τον καναπέ μου μέχρι την κουζίνα μου.»
“At the weekend, I walk from my sofa to my kitchen.”
Η γιατρός δεν γελάει. «Η καρδιά σας δεν είναι χαρούμενη, κύριε Πιοτρ. Η καρδιά σας χρειάζεται περπάτημα.»
The doctor does not laugh. “Your heart is not happy, Mr Piotr. Your heart needs you to walk.”
«Πόσο;»
“How much?”
«Δέκα χιλιάδες βήματα. Κάθε μέρα.»
“Ten thousand steps. Every day.”
Ο Πιοτρ την κοιτάζει. «Δέκα χιλιάδες; Κάθε μέρα; Αυτό είναι αστείο.»
Piotr looks at her. “Ten thousand? Every day? That is a joke.”
