In each language: Die Glocken von Chalandamarz · The Bells of Chalandamarz

Flurin has waited five years to carry the Plumpa, the biggest bell in Guarda, at the head of the Chalandamarz procession. Now he has to share it with Anouk, the new girl from Geneva, who calls the whole custom noise. His plan to show her up goes badly wrong under the ice of the village fountain, and on the first of March it is the one he least expected who saves the song.

Die grösste Glocke

The Biggest Bell

The list had been hanging on the classroom door for ten minutes, and Flurin Casty had already read it four times. Next to the word "Plumpa" there was not one name but two. The first was his. The second belonged to a girl who had only been living in Guarda for three weeks.

"That's a mistake," Flurin said out loud, and there was no missing his dismay.

Reading it as a parallel text

A parallel text puts a story next to its translation, paragraph by paragraph. Read in the language you are working on and glance across only when a sentence stops you: the story keeps moving, and the words you look up stay in context. More in how to read with a parallel text.
