As men grow wicked and lawless, Jupiter grows weary of the bloodshed and decides to destroy them all with a flood that covers the plains, then the forests, then the hills. Warned by his father Prometheus, upright Deucalion has built a boat, and he and his wife Pyrrha drift on the rising waters.

In jenen sehr frühen Zeiten lebte ein Mann namens Deukalion, der Sohn des Prometheus. Er war nur ein einfacher Mann und kein Titan wie sein großer Vater, doch war er weit und breit für seine guten Taten und die Rechtschaffenheit seines Lebens bekannt.

In those very early times there was a man named Deucalion, and he was the son of Prometheus. He was only a common man and not a Titan like his great father, and yet he was known far and wide for his good deeds and the uprightness of his life.

His wife's name was Pyrrha, and she was one of the fairest of the daughters of men.
