An old sow has too little to keep her three little pigs, so she sends them out to seek their fortune. Each pig asks a passing man for building materials, straw, furze or bricks, and puts up a house. Then a wolf comes knocking at each door, asking to be let in.

Once upon a time when pigs spoke rhyme And monkeys chewed tobacco, And hens took snuff to make them tough, And ducks went quack, quack, quack, O!
